Microsoft Cuts Hundreds of Jobs, Reorganizes Xbox Studios Under Activision

Microsoft is cutting fewer than 600 global jobs, including 268 roles across Xbox Game Studios and 277 positions in Washington state, as part of an ongoing restructuring. Under the reorganization, Activision will take over development of future mainline Halo titles from Halo Studios, while also managing Rare and World's Edge. The broader gaming overhaul, initially announced in July to eliminate around 20% of Xbox's workforce (reported as 3,200 to 3,600 positions), is now approximately 75% complete. The move follows Microsoft's 4,800-person global layoff in July and extensive post-acquisition cost discipline.
