Microsoft Commits Over $10 Billion to Expand Gulf Cloud and AI Infrastructure by 2030
Microsoft Corp. announced plans to invest more than $10 billion through 2030 across Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait. The capital commitment centers on expanding cloud computing, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and digital resilience amid geopolitical tensions. The plan allocates over $400 million specifically for subsea and terrestrial connectivity. A new suite of cloud services will launch in Saudi Arabia within five weeks, and Microsoft reaffirmed its commitment to 200 megawatts of capacity in Abu Dhabi. The expansion builds on Microsoft's prior $1.5 billion minority stake in Abu Dhabi-based G42.
