MiCA Shake-Up? Binance Logs Highest Weekly Outflows in Over 3 Years
Binance recorded $1.23 billion in weekly outflows, the largest in more than three years, as the EU’s MiCA deadline approached and the exchange began winding down services in several European countries. The report suggests the withdrawals may be partly driven by regulatory uncertainty, but they could also reflect users moving assets to self-custody or repositioning. A key counterpoint is Ethereum-specific behavior: Binance saw more than 166,000 ETH withdrawal transactions in a single day, the most since March 2023, which some analysts interpret as accumulation rather than selling. Ether has risen about 12% over the past week to around $1,766, reinforcing the possibility that investors are pulling coins off exchanges to hold. The near-term market signal will depend on whether outflows continue after the MiCA deadline passes.
