Meta's Muse AI Agent Tops App Charts, Fueling Partnerships and Broad Sector Disruption
Meta Platforms is driving market shifts following the viral launch of its autonomous personal AI agent, Muse. The app surged to No. 1 on Apple's U.S. App Store and Google Play, drawing more than 2.5 million downloads since debuting September 8. Meta shares jumped 11% to $741.25 as the company secured integrations with Shopify and Expedia. However, the app sparked heavy selloffs across banking, insurance, and online travel stocks—including Charles Schwab, Airbnb, and Booking Holdings—over disintermediation fears. In response, Amazon blocked Muse from operating on its platform citing security concerns.
