Meta's Massive Louisiana AI Data Center Drives Regional Economic Boom and Workforce Training

Meta Platforms is advancing construction on its largest-ever AI data center, Hyperion, spanning nearly 10 million square feet in rural Richland Parish, Louisiana. The project supports over 7,500 jobs at peak construction and is set to provide about 1,000 permanent operational roles upon completion by 2030. Regional sales tax revenue jumped from $21 million in 2024 to $39 million in 2025, with projections reaching $92 million in 2026. Local institutions, including Louisiana Delta Community College, have launched vocational programs preparing technicians for roles starting at $24 to $30 per hour.
