Metaplanet CEO Meets Lawmaker to Advance National Bitcoin Strategy

Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich met LDP lawmaker Junichi Kanda on May 18 to discuss a national Bitcoin strategy, marking the latest step in the company’s push for clearer crypto regulations. The move follows Metaplanet’s May 13 announcement and subsequent delay of Japan’s first Bitcoin-backed perpetual preferred shares, which were postponed over regulatory and market-structure hurdles. The firm holds 40,177 BTC, reported net sales up 251% YoY to $19.5 million and operating income up 283% to $14.4 million, and maintains a six-quarter track record of recurring Bitcoin-derived cash flows. Shares remain down 25% year-to-date amid ongoing compliance uncertainty.
