Meta Bans ByteDance and TikTok Advertisements Across Seven Major Global Markets
Meta Platforms has implemented an immediate ban on advertisements and paid marketing messages from ByteDance, the Chinese parent company of TikTok. The restriction covers Facebook and Instagram across the United States, Canada, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam, and extends to third-party ads directing traffic to ByteDance properties. Defending the move as standard business practice against a direct rival, Meta foregoes ad revenue to curb user acquisition for TikTok, which currently counts more than 200 million users in the U.S.
