Meta Apologizes for Mistakenly Suspending No Kings Movement Instagram Account During Rallies
Meta Platforms has apologized and fully restored access after automated security systems erroneously suspended the Instagram account of the 'No Kings' protest group during nationwide voting mobilization events. The suspension occurred on October 17 during nearly 3,000 rallies held to boost early voter turnout ahead of midterm elections. Meta spokesperson Andy Stone explained that automated systems misidentified high-frequency tool requests and posting activity as bot traffic. Although the account remained offline for over an hour, the incident presents negligible financial impact for Meta despite criticism from protest organizers.
