LinkedIn Notifies 606 California Staff of July 13 Layoffs in Reorg

On May 19 LinkedIn notified 606 employees in Mountain View, San Francisco, Sunnyvale and Carpinteria of permanent layoffs effective July 13. The specific cuts follow Reuters reports on May 13 that Microsoft-owned LinkedIn planned to eliminate about 5% of its 17,500-person workforce. By May 14 details emerged showing roughly 875 roles targeted across five divisions together with reductions in marketing, vendor and event spending. The restructuring comes despite LinkedIn’s 12% year-over-year revenue growth and occurs amid more than 103,000 tech layoffs recorded in 2026 so far. Microsoft is simultaneously offering voluntary buyouts that could affect about 7% of its 125,000 employees.
