Ledger Halts Reseller Sales After Trader Loses 80 Bitcoin in Suspected Supply-Chain Compromise

Ledger has ordered Southeast Asian distributor CryptoBilis to halt sales and shipments following the theft of 80 Bitcoin, valued at up to $6.6 million, from a newly acquired hardware wallet. The victim originally purchased the 80 BTC four months earlier for $5.2 million, at roughly $65,000 per coin, and deposited the funds onto the device on September 29. On October 9, the wallet was fully drained to an unauthorized address while Bitcoin traded above $83,000. Analytics firms Arkham and MistTrack estimate total related drain losses across multiple victims at $80 million to $90 million.
