JP Morgan sees limited upside for REA in a fresh tilt at Rightmove

JP Morgan says REA Group’s possible renewed bid for Rightmove would likely create only about 4% EPS accretion for REA, making the deal unattractive on a risk-reward basis. The bank argues that despite Rightmove’s share price weakness since September 2025, the valuation gap reflects sector-wide concerns, including AI disruption and higher spending needs after years of underinvestment. JP Morgan also believes a fully debt-funded structure is not feasible and that private equity appetite is limited. Overall, the note suggests limited near-term upside for Rightmove and potential downside pressure on margins, while also implying the stock could remain under pressure unless a clearer re-rating catalyst emerges.
