Josh Brown, counting on a new momentum strategy, thinks investors want more than index funds
Ritholtz CEO Josh Brown has launched Porterhouse, a rules-based, momentum-focused separately managed account run with Franklin Templeton that targets a concentrated set of what Brown calls the market’s best opportunities. Available to qualified Ritholtz clients starting June 1, 2026, the strategy emphasizes companies with rising earnings and persistent share-price strength, can hold cash when sell rules trigger, and currently contains 58 holdings — notably excluding the Magnificent Seven. Brown positions Porterhouse as a complement to cheap, broad S&P 500 index exposure, arguing some investors want a more selective, adaptive approach that may capture leadership shifts. The launch could modestly influence flows toward active, concentrated strategies but is unlikely to displace core passive allocations.
