Japan’s Fanuc shares hit record high on Google physical AI partnership

Fanuc’s stock surged after announcing a partnership with Google to integrate Google Cloud, Gemini Enterprise generative AI and Intrinsic robotics software into its industrial robots. Tokyo-listed Fanuc jumped as much as 15.6% to an all-time high of ¥8,880, driven by accelerating demand — the company says it has shipped over 1,000 robots with ‘physical AI’ and will demonstrate an AI agent system later this month. The tie-up lifts sentiment for robotics and AI-exposed Japanese exporters and could provide upside to the Nikkei/ Japan 225 via a large-cap constituent. Alphabet (Google) also traded higher on the news, reinforcing positive cross-market sentiment for AI infrastructure and automation plays.
