Iran Threatens Middle East Energy Infrastructure Amid Ongoing Strait of Hormuz Standoff

Iran warned that no Middle East energy infrastructure will remain safe unless its security and crude oil exports are guaranteed. Chief negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stated that if Iran cannot sell oil, no regional producer will be permitted to do so. The warnings follow an Iranian proposal offering to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the U.S. lifts its naval blockade, eases petroleum sanctions, and implements a cease-fire. Although U.S. President Donald Trump dismissed the terms, bilateral negotiations are expected to continue.
