Institutions and Sovereign Wealth Funds Expand Bitcoin Allocations as Debasement Hedges, Bitwise Reports

Institutional investors are accelerating Bitcoin adoption as a hedge against currency debasement, according to Bitwise Asset Management. At least one sovereign wealth fund liquidated gold and foreign exchange reserves to buy Bitcoin, while major wealth management platforms widened recommended allocations from roughly 1% to between 2% and 8%. In a survey of 15 major institutions conducted between March and April 2026, none reduced Bitcoin positions during a 50% price drawdown from around $125,000 to $60,000. Weekly spot Bitcoin ETF inflows reached up to $2.5 billion, providing structural market support.
