Institutional 13F Filers Increase Bitcoin Holdings to 264,000 BTC in Second Quarter

Institutional 13F filers increased their total Bitcoin holdings by 1.3% to 264,000 BTC in the second quarter, rising from 261,000 BTC in the first quarter despite a 14% drop in Bitcoin's spot price. This lifted their share of total U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF assets under management to 22.4%, up from 20.8%. Investor categories diverged significantly: brokerage holdings more than doubled to 38,500 BTC, supported by market makers like Jane Street and Morgan Stanley's 10,400 BTC stake. Conversely, hedge funds cut exposure by 22% to 37,800 BTC as firms including DE Shaw exited.
