India Rejects Monopoly Allegations as Elon Musk Blames Ambani for Stalled Starlink Launch
India's government has rejected claims of monopoly and bias after SpaceX founder Elon Musk accused telecom 'oligarchs,' notably Reliance Industries chairperson Mukesh Ambani, of blocking Starlink's commercial rollout. Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and the Ministry of Communications asserted that India's framework is non-discriminatory, noting all three licensed satellite operators—Starlink, Jio Satellite Communications, and Eutelsat OneWeb—face identical pending security assessments and administrative spectrum allocations. Starlink, which secured an initial license after four to five years of regulatory review, remains stalled as security agencies withheld clearances, leading SpaceX shares to drop 2.51% in early trading.
