IDC Warns of Turbulent H2 PC Market Despite MacBook Neo Surge

The global PC market faces a turbulent second half of 2026 due to a worsening memory shortage that will cut shipments and lift prices, according to IDC. The firm now projects an 11.3% decline in global PC shipments for the year and a 17% rise in average selling prices. Offsetting some of the weakness, Apple’s MacBook Neo has driven stronger-than-expected notebook demand, prompting upward forecast revisions and pressuring rivals to sustain low-cost SKUs. The device shipped 1.1 million units in the March quarter after just three weeks on sale, highlighting resilient demand in the entry-level segment even as broader supply constraints persist into 2027.
