ICE and Ornn to launch GPU compute futures contracts

Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and compute startup Ornn announced plans to launch dollar‑denominated, cash‑settled GPU compute futures based on Ornn’s Compute Price Index (OCPI). The contracts — referencing Nvidia GPU series such as the H100, H200, B200 and RTX 5090 — are aimed at creating standardized price discovery and risk management for GPU compute costs, a rapidly growing market. The move, pending regulatory approval, follows earlier and parallel initiatives from Architect Financial Technologies and CME Group, signaling broader institutional interest in compute derivatives. For market participants, the futures could improve transparency in GPU pricing, enable hedging of compute-cost exposure (benefiting cloud providers, AI firms and hardware buyers), and indirectly influence demand dynamics for Nvidia GPUs and related stocks.
