Hoskinson Defends 1,096 BTC Audit Spend as Critics Demand Full Records

On June 15 Charles Hoskinson confirmed that 1,096 BTC from Cardano’s 2015-2017 crowdsale paid for a 2016 audit and three reviewers. The coins, valued at roughly $454,000 when spent, are now worth nearly $70 million, prompting investor Thomas Braziel to demand invoices, approvals and custody records. The dispute intensified after the Isle of Man foundation holding the funds was dissolved in December 2025, coinciding with ADA’s 25% weekly drop. While a separate 10.09% Bitcoin mining-difficulty drop occurred on June 14, market focus has remained on Cardano governance transparency.
