Hong Kong Overtakes Switzerland as Top Cross-Border Wealth Hub
Boston Consulting Group's 2026 Global Wealth Report, released May 27, shows Hong Kong surpassing Switzerland as the world's largest cross-border wealth booking centre with $2.95 trillion versus $2.94 trillion. The shift is driven by China-linked assets and the 2025 IPO boom, as global cross-border wealth rose 8.4% to $15.7 trillion. BCG projects Hong Kong and Singapore to expand at 9% annually through 2030, outpacing Switzerland's 6% growth and strengthening Asia's position. This positive structural backdrop supports Hong Kong-listed financials and capital markets in the Hong Kong 50, though elevated geopolitical and regulatory risks remain.
