Greg Abel Commits $10 Billion More to Alphabet via Private Placement
Berkshire Hathaway under CEO Greg Abel has doubled down on Alphabet with at least $10 billion in additional private-placement shares, potentially elevating the position to a top-three holding. The move follows the May 16 13-F that held Apple steady at 228 million shares while tripling Alphabet to 58 million shares and adding a $2.65 billion Delta stake. Subsequent filings showed restarted $234-235 million buybacks against a record $397.4 billion cash pile, exits from Amazon, Visa, Mastercard and UnitedHealth, and confirmation that three AI-linked holdings now represent 28% of the portfolio. Alphabet’s strong results and heavy AI investment reinforced the reallocation.
