Grande Portage Resources Initiates Full Scale Geochemical Characterization Program and Backfill Testwork for the New Amalga Gold Project

Grande Portage Resources has begun a comprehensive geochemical characterization program and the first cemented rock fill (CRF) backfill testwork for the New Amalga Gold Project, with samples shipped April 24. The program — overseen by Stantec and run at SGS North America — will inform NEPA and Alaska permitting and de-risk environmental concerns by testing larger, representative rock suites. The update follows a PEA (effective Feb 11, 2026) showing robust economics (base-case NPV5 US$721m, IRR 56% at US$3,200/oz) and substantial high-grade resources. By confirming low acid-generation potential and validating backfill strength, results could materially reduce permitting risk, capital requirements (no onsite mill or tailings), and support project valuation — a bullish operational development for the asset and potentially positive for market perception of gold exposure tied to the project.
