Google Signs Agreement With Georgia Power to Add 96 Megawatts of Nuclear Capacity

Google has partnered with Southern Company subsidiary Georgia Power to fund nuclear capacity uprates at the Plant Vogtle and Plant Hatch facilities, pending Georgia Public Service Commission approval. Under the agreement, Google will subscribe to a newly established NU-1 tariff and acquire Zero-Emission Credits to power its expanding data center and artificial intelligence operations. The project will add approximately 96 megawatts of zero-carbon baseload electricity by upgrading turbines, pumps, and cooling systems. The deal structure is projected to generate roughly $900 million in customer benefits over the units' operational lifespans while insulating retail consumers from capital costs.
