Google Cloud races to catch up in the AI deployment wars with Accenture deal
Google Cloud has announced an expanded enterprise artificial intelligence partnership with Accenture to establish a dedicated joint unit named the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group. Under this agreement, Google will train up to 1,000 forward-deployed engineers (FDEs) from Accenture to help corporate clients integrate and build tailored applications on the Gemini Enterprise platform. The move is designed to address major deployment bottlenecks, bridging the gap between massive infrastructure capital expenditures and corporate monetization. The initiative comes as hyperscalers face rising pressure to prove the return on heavy AI investments. While Google Cloud generated $24.8 billion in revenue in the second quarter, parent company Alphabet had accumulated $811 billion in purchase commitments and contractual obligations as of June 30. Recent August data from Ramp highlights the urgency of the race, indicating Google captures roughly 6% of enterprise AI spending among U.S. businesses, trailing Anthropic's 43.5% and OpenAI's 39.7%. By scaling its hands-on implementation capabilities through global consultancies, Google aims to accelerate enterprise adoption and expand its market share against key cloud rivals.
