Gold miner shares fall as bullion prices decline on inflation concerns

Spot gold fell on May 11, 2026, as rising oil prices stoked inflation worries and the prospect of prolonged higher interest rates, dragging U.S.-listed gold miners lower in premarket trading. Spot gold slid about 0.4% to $4,696.35/oz. Major producer Newmont (NEM) led declines among U.S.-listed miners, while South African and Canadian miners also retreated. Market attention was also on stalled U.S.–Iran peace talks and a stronger inflation impulse from energy, which weighed on bullion’s safe-haven appeal and pressured mining equities.
