Gold Fields, Cree First Nation Sign Uukiimau IBA for Windfall Gold Project

On June 3, 2026, Gold Fields and Cree First Nation partners signed the Uukiimau Impact Benefit Agreement for the Windfall gold project in Québec. The deal de-risks social and regulatory hurdles, supporting a targeted production start by end-2026 or early-2027. Windfall hosts 3.2 Moz measured & indicated gold resources plus 3.6 Moz inferred, with plans to ramp output to roughly 300,000 oz/year. Bonterra Resources later highlighted the agreement’s positive regional effects, noting reduced permitting risk for adjacent assets including its Phoenix JV. Gold Fields, which acquired Osisko in 2024, operates the project and can earn a 70% interest by spending C$30 million by November 2026.
