Gold Falls to $4,150 as Hawkish Fed and Warsh Comments Intensify Pressure

Gold extended losses into June 19, dropping to around $4,150 and briefly touching $4,121 after the Federal Reserve held rates at 3.50%-3.75% and signaled higher-for-longer policy. The metal had rebounded above $4,300 midweek on a preliminary U.S.-Iran peace deal that eased oil prices and trimmed rate-hike odds, but the advance reversed sharply once the Fed’s dot plot and new Chair Kevin Warsh reinforced tighter policy expectations. Spot gold is now down more than 25% from January peaks near $5,595, with $4,000 emerging as the next critical support level.
