Global Gold ETF Holdings Hit Record 4,256 Tonnes Following Strong Q3 Inflows
Global gold-backed exchange-traded fund holdings reached a record 4,256 tonnes in September, bringing total assets under management to $574 billion. For the third quarter, inflows totaled 211 tonnes valued at a record $31 billion, with September alone attracting $10 billion and expanding holdings by up to 67.3 tonnes. Strong ETF demand persisted despite spot gold prices sliding 8.5% in September to $4,176 per ounce amid rising U.S. Treasury yields and a stronger dollar, which triggered an 84-tonne liquidation in Comex managed-money positions. North American and European funds led the month's inflows.
