Germany's September Ifo Business Climate Index Beats Forecasts, Rising to 89.9

German business sentiment improved more than anticipated in September, with the headline Ifo Business Climate Index climbing to 89.9, its highest level since May 2023. The reading surpassed consensus forecasts of 89.1 and rose from 88.8 in August. Component indices also beat projections, as the current assessment gauge rose from 88.5 to 89.5 against an expected 89.0, and business expectations climbed to 90.4 versus an expected 89.3. The rebound was largely driven by services, which rose to 0.7 from -2.1, while manufacturing improved to -2.8.
