FTSE Russell: Affluent Investors Rely on Advisors for Private Market Investments
A FTSE Russell Wealth Pulse survey of 600 U.S. affluent investors (conducted March 18–30, 2026) finds advisors are the decisive gatekeepers for private-market allocations: 77% invest in private markets via an advisor and 89% of advised investors would allocate if their advisor strongly recommended it. Despite clear demand—32% have some private-market exposure and millennial adoption is high—many advisors aren’t engaging: only 26% of investors had in-depth discussions about private markets and 30% had none. The generational divide is stark (67% of millennials vs. 11% of baby boomers allocated), suggesting future flows favoring younger cohorts. The results imply sizeable distribution and product opportunities for asset managers and wealth firms that can educate advisors and build scalable, advisor-friendly private-market solutions for both retail and workplace channels.
