FTSE 100 Edges Up 0.07% on June 5 After Sharp Drop
The FTSE 100 closed June 5 marginally higher by 0.07% after tumbling 0.83% to 10,246.55 the prior session. Weakness had accelerated on June 4 as the construction PMI crashed to 38.2, the steepest contraction since May 2020, while five ex-dividend names added mechanical pressure. Earlier, the services PMI had slipped into contraction at 49.3 for the first time since April 2025, offsetting resilient manufacturing readings of 53.9 and leaving sentiment fragile amid geopolitical cost pressures.
