France Composite PMI Rebounds to 51.2 in September on Services Surge
French private sector activity returned to expansion in September, lifting sentiment across domestic equities including the France 40 benchmark. The headline flash composite PMI climbed to 51.2, beating forecasts of 48.7 and improving from 48.5 in August to reach a 25-month high. The rebound was spearheaded by the services sector, with the flash services PMI jumping to a 10-month high of 51.4 versus 48.3 expected. Manufacturing moderated slightly to 50.3 from 51.1. Accelerating price pressures pushed market-implied odds of an October ECB 25 basis point rate hike to roughly 47%.
