Foundation Raises $6.4M to Build Hardware Authorizing AI Agents in Real Time

On May 22, Foundation Devices unveiled plans to deliver real-time AI-agent authorization via its new Passport Prime hardware, backed by the just-closed $6.4 million round. The Boston-based firm, which began shipping the $349 device to pre-order customers in March, is expanding its tamper-resistant Bitcoin wallet into broader identity, MFA and programmable AI-guardrail use cases. Total funding now stands at $16.5 million after the latest raise led by Fulgur Ventures. The company simultaneously opened its KeyOS developer SDK and set a late-Q2 2026 target for a KeyOS app store, with Cake Wallet as the first integration targeting more than one million users.
