Fluid Loses $215,000 in Reward System Exploit After Key Compromise

Decentralized finance protocol Fluid lost about $215,000 after an attacker compromised two operational keys in its Ethereum-based reward distribution system, registered a reward list directing payouts to their address, and claimed funds. Stolen assets included 112,883 FLUID, 47,903 GHO and some cbBTC, which were swapped for Ether and routed through Tornado Cash. Fluid says lending markets, vaults, DEX and user deposits were unaffected; compromised keys have been replaced and remaining reward funds moved to a secure address. Market impact is primarily reputational for Fluid and a reminder of operational-key risk across DeFi; it could increase demand for multisig, timelocks and decentralized key management and revive regulatory scrutiny around privacy mixers. Direct price impact on ETH is likely limited but the event raises sector-wide security concerns.
