Florida seeks court order forcing Meta to remove underage users and limit teen usage

Florida has filed a motion for a temporary injunction in Pasco County court against Meta Platforms, seeking immediate mandatory changes to Facebook and Instagram. Led by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, the state demands that Meta identify and remove users under 14 years old and cap teen access across all apps to two hours daily. The action also seeks to ban advertising to teens, disable infinite scroll and autoplay, and restrict messaging after time limits. The move comes after Florida opted out of an August settlement where Meta agreed to pay up to $18 billion to 48 states and Washington, D.C.
