FBI Raid Uncovers $40M Gold Stash at Former CIA Official's Virginia Home
On May 28, federal agents disclosed the seizure of roughly $40 million in gold from the Virginia residence of ex-senior official David J. Rush. The action follows his May 19 arrest on charges of stealing tens of millions while posing as a Navy pilot and CIA figure. Between November 2025 and March 2026, Rush allegedly submitted fraudulent requests for foreign currency and gold. Agents recovered 303 one-kilogram bars, $2 million in cash, and 35 luxury watches during the May 18 search. Although the case spotlights physical gold holdings, the quantity remains negligible versus global markets and is unlikely to affect XAUUSD prices.
