Eurozone September Final CPI Confirmed at 3.8% as Energy Prices Surge

Eurozone headline inflation accelerated to 3.8% year-over-year in September 2026, confirming preliminary estimates and up from 3.2% in August. Consumer prices rose 0.6% month-over-month, primarily driven by energy prices, which surged 18.9% annually from 14.3% in August. Energy contributed 1.71 percentage points to the headline rate. Core inflation edged up to 2.5% year-over-year from 2.4%, supported by services inflation increasing to 3.2% from 3.0%. Non-energy industrial goods inflation slowed to 1.1%, while inflation accelerated across 23 European Union member states.
