Ethereum, Solana led crypto hack losses in H1 2026: Blockaid

Blockaid’s H1 2026 security report says crypto hacks and exploits exceeded $1 billion in losses, the highest six-month total on record for the industry. Ethereum was the hardest-hit network, with about $332 million stolen, while Solana ranked second at about $326 million after a sharp rise from 2025. The report attributes Ethereum losses mainly to code exploits in applications built on the network, plus key compromises involving major protocols. Solana’s losses were driven overwhelmingly by compromised keys and signing infrastructure, with more than 98% of losses tied to those failures rather than smart-contract bugs. The findings underscore persistent security risks in high-value DeFi and blockchain ecosystems, especially around privileged access, bridge and contract vulnerabilities, and operational security. The article is negative for network security perception but does not imply a direct price catalyst beyond highlighting ongoing risk in ETH and SOL ecosystems.
