Ethereum Postpones Glamsterdam Hoodi Testnet Upgrade Over Smart Contract Security Concerns

Ethereum core developers have delayed the Glamsterdam upgrade deployment on the Hoodi testnet, previously set for October 26, 2026, after security firm ChainSecurity discovered vulnerabilities in proposed gas rule changes. The issue stems from EIP-8037 and EIP-8038, which leave at least 13 real-world smart contracts vulnerable to permanent failure states or griefing attacks. The postponement cancels a planned 200 million-gas limit test and casts doubt on an early-December mainnet launch. In response, Lido DAO announced plans for a governance vote to roll back its Hoodi testnet contracts, confirming mainnet operations remain unaffected.
