Ethereum Developer Publishes Draft EIP-8182 for Native Private Transfers
Ethereum developer Tom Lehman today published draft EIP-8182, proposing a protocol-level shared shielded pool and ZK proof-verification precompile to enable native private ETH and ERC-20 transfers via hard fork. Earlier coverage detailed the design's fixed-address system contract with no admin keys or governance, solving anonymity fragmentation and enabling atomic DEX swaps plus reshielding in one transaction. With fewer than 1 in 10,000 Ethereum transactions private in 2025, the proposal aligns with the 2026 roadmap for institutional privacy, viewed as bullish for ETH adoption amid regulatory uncertainties.
