Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin warns of the dangers of AI being controlled by a few big tech firms
Consensys CEO and Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin told CoinDesk that AI and crypto are converging to power a machine-driven economy, with AI agents using crypto rails to transact and verify autonomously. He said MetaMask is being reimagined as a user‑controlled “neobank” and a personal money operating system, and expects more corporate chains for throughput while advocating that durable assets be minted on Ethereum layer one. Lubin called stablecoins a “stepping stone” toward crypto-native money and argued decentralized collateral will grow. He warned that concentration of AI infrastructure in a few big tech firms is a systemic risk, arguing decentralization and cryptography will be essential — a stance that could boost demand for Ethereum-based primitives and decentralization solutions.
