Endeavour, Rio Tinto and Glencore lead rebounding miners as metals prices seesaw
Mining stocks rose as gold, silver and copper experienced sharp moves after hopes of easing Middle East tensions were briefly revived. Endeavour led FTSE risers (up 3.5%), with Rio Tinto and Glencore also higher, as investors bet higher commodity prices could support miners’ earnings. Gold jumped from around $4,500/oz to about $4,570 before easing to $4,535, while silver climbed from $75.4/oz to above $78.5 then retreated to ~$76.4. US copper futures hit $6.44/lb and LME copper reached $13,667.50/tonne at one point. Renewed US strikes on Iran and ongoing talks have left markets cautiously optimistic but exposed to abrupt reversals, keeping a risk premium on energy and metals. Overall the move was supportive for miners but sentiment remains mixed given geopolitical uncertainty.
