Empery Digital Weighs Bitcoin Sales to Fund $65M AI Data Center Stake

On July 1, Empery Digital signaled it may sell part of its 2,914 BTC holdings to finance the $65 million AI data center investment first announced the prior day. The pivot follows June 30 sales of 370 BTC at roughly $66,632 each that retired a $105 million margin loan and left the company with heavy unrealized losses. The Midwest project offers 150 MW of existing power capacity expandable to 300 MW, with the $65 million purchase securing a 25% stake and potential long-term lease revenue up to $1 billion. Empery has already paid $2.9 million, with the balance due at Q3 2026 closing, and will discontinue its Bitcoin treasury dashboard. The move reflects broader pressure on crypto-treasury firms to redirect capital toward AI infrastructure.
