Draft Ethereum Proposal Introduces Mechanism to Permanently Disable EIP-7702 Delegation

Ethereum developers are weighing new security measures after a $6.4 billion breach of Binance hot wallets on October 29 leveraged the network's EIP-7702 delegation framework. On October 30, developer nicolashw submitted a draft proposal allowing externally owned accounts to irreversibly opt out of EIP-7702 by setting a non-executable marker. The proposal follows an exploit attributed to North Korea's TraderTraitor group, which executed 50 pre-signed authorizations via compromised internal custody infrastructure. Ethereum core developers are also advancing EIP-8141 for the upcoming Hegotá hard fork to natively restructure account models.
