Department of War adds Starshield AI’s Grok to GenAI platform

The Department of War has integrated Starshield AI's Grok for Government into its GenAI.mil platform, expanding access to advanced artificial intelligence capabilities across defense and military personnel. The system has secured official accreditation for Controlled Unclassified Information at Impact Level 5, ensuring compliance with strict government data security standards. The deployment brings deep-thinking inference and multiple reasoning modes—including Auto, Fast, and Expert tiers—alongside customizable workspaces and persistent project playbooks. The government expects the platform to serve diverse operational workflows, spanning acquisition market research to logistics and supply chain analysis. Oversight is managed by the Chief Digital and AI Office alongside the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering. This rollout represents a significant milestone for Starshield's enterprise AI capabilities within the public sector. Since launching nine months ago, the GenAI.mil platform has scaled to over 1.7 million registered users across a total workforce exceeding 3 million personnel, signaling accelerated enterprise adoption of commercial AI architectures aligned with federal defense modernization priorities.
