Delta CEO Stands by Amazon Leo Pick Over Starlink for Price and Ecosystem

On May 19, Delta CEO Ed Bastian reaffirmed the airline’s choice of Amazon’s Leo satellite service over Elon Musk’s Starlink, highlighting Amazon’s retailing capabilities, Prime access, gaming technologies, and a much lower price point. The defense follows Musk’s public criticism and builds on Bastian’s May 18 remarks that also praised superior bandwidth. Delta’s March deal calls for Leo installation on 500 aircraft beginning in 2028, when Amazon’s constellation is expected to expand from its current ~300 satellites toward Starlink’s 10,000-plus footprint.
