DeepSeek Partners With Huawei to Launch AI Chip Software Challenging Nvidia

Chinese AI firm DeepSeek has partnered with Huawei Technologies to release an open-source programming toolkit for Huawei's Ascend AI chips, targeting reduced reliance on Nvidia. The toolkit features TileLang, a high-level programming language designed as an alternative to Nvidia's proprietary CUDA framework. Alongside software libraries, the collaboration advanced a supernode architecture powered by 128 Ascend 950 chips. DeepSeek also optimized its V4-Flash model for Huawei hardware, pivoting from its prior reliance on Nvidia's H800 processor amid tightening trade restrictions. Huawei projects widespread Ascend deployment for AI model training by 2027.
