COTI Cracks the Millionaires' Problem on Ethereum Testnet With Garbled Circuits
COTI demonstrated a practical implementation of Yao’s “Millionaires’ Problem” on Ethereum’s Sepolia testnet using Garbled Circuits, marking a technical milestone for privacy-preserving multiparty computation on public Ethereum. Built with Soda Labs and leveraging the gcEVM engine (EVM- and Solidity-compatible), the solution—live on COTI mainnet since March 2025—enables confidential smart contracts and privacy-on-demand services for DeFi, institutional apps and governance. The development, highlighted by Vitalik Buterin as aligned with cryptographic MPC goals, could accelerate developer adoption of privacy layers on Ethereum and improve institutional comfort with on-chain confidential computation, a bullish signal for privacy tooling and wider Ethereum ecosystem utility.
