Core Scientific Restarts Bitcoin Accumulation After Q1 Sell-Off

Core Scientific reported a renewed build-up in its Bitcoin treasury, adding 301 BTC in Q2 to end the quarter with 848 BTC, after selling down holdings earlier in the year to fund its AI and high-performance computing expansion. The company’s return to accumulation signals improved confidence in holding mined Bitcoin while diversifying toward data center revenues. Financially, Core Scientific posted strong year-over-year improvement, with Q2 revenue rising to $164.2 million from $78.6 million and gross profit jumping to $70 million from $5 million. Shares were down about 2% on the day, but the broader takeaway is that the miner is balancing Bitcoin exposure with a growing AI infrastructure business, highlighted by a major AMD data center agreement covering 2.5 gigawatts of capacity.
